Should you install a speed limiter on your vehicle?

We’ve all heard of speed limiters, but how do they work and should you get one?
There’s nothing more intimidating, seemingly, when you’re on the motorway and a car/van decides that 90mph is a comfortable speed for them, so they decide to speed down the outside lane at their will. None of us like to see it, do we? It leads to nothing but potential danger, so none of us want to be in the way of these speeders when they’re slamming down the motorway. The speeding problem has existed since vans have held the ability of reaching such high speeds, and naturally, anybody who has a fleet of vans that wants their users to abide by the law will surely want to prevent any form of speeding happening in their vehicles.

The danger it puts the public in is known to us all, but given that a van is seen speeding down the road, displaying your company logo on the side is really negative coverage for your companies image, hence why speed limiters are a good idea. Not only is it dangerous, it’s also illegal, so any accidents caused by your drivers will be at the cost and blame of the company.
With the facts mounting, including the thought that introducing speed limiters will bring down petrol costs, surely everybody is using these devices in their cars? Apparently not, as it’s reported that as little as 5% of drivers are using speed limiters.
A reason of this could be that people already seemingly trust their ability to keep at legal speeds in their cars, yet it’s a good idea to include them in fleet vans as it’s difficult to know how staff are treating their vehicles.
Ultimately, it’s down to the company in order to insure their vans are being driven for work purposes only.
